2024 Indiana Results
Wildcat Creek in Kokomo was the host for the 2024 Indiana Leftys Championship. 25 golfers participated in the event which was an increase from 14 the year prior. Contributing to this increase was the move from September to June as well as the course being more centrally located in Indiana.
There were seven first-time participants. A big thanks goes out to them and we hope to see you all again next year! The first time participants were: Steve Baertschi, David Burczyk (Florida), Noah Knepper, Joseph Mattick, Evan McConnell (Michigan), Alex Summerall and Dan Townsend (Ohio).
2021 NALG runner-up Dan Aufderheide won the state title over defending champion Jon Kelley. Aufderheide fired rounds of 76 and 73 for the four-stroke win.
NALG chair Sid Miner captured the Senior title with his scores of 79 and 76.
Michigan tournament organizer Bob Wolf captured the Master title with his rounds of 74 (great round!!) and 83. Jim Still made a valiant effort to catch Wolf but his final round 77 fell one stroke short.
92 year-old Max Gnagy broke his age in both rounds to finish second in the Grand Master division. 86 year-old Jack Hammond outdid Max to win the Grand Master division when he broke his age by 8 strokes in the final round. Congratulations.
Wildcat Creek was in great shape and the weather was great. The wind was typically in the 20 mph range made the course more challenging. Many players noted the challenge presented by the fast greens. If you didn't pay attention to which was the grain was going you were in trouble. Even if you did, if you had a long putt a two-putt was not guaranteed.
The GolfUp31 facility next door held the banquet Saturday night and the food received rave reviews!
